CHRISTMAS SEASON AT BALLARD CHURCH
5 Ways to practice Advent at home
1) Advent Reading Plans
Read a chapter a day in Luke’s gospel beginning December 1st as a way to read through Jesus entire story leading up to Christmas Day.
2) Advent Wreath
Each Sunday, starting December 1st, we will be lighting a candle in our Advent wreath in order to reflect on the four themes of Advent; Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. This is an easy way for you to take part in this season by emulating the practice somewhere in your home. You can go as traditional or unique as you would like. Simply put, all you need is 4 candles to signify the themes and to pick a time on when to light the candle each night and reflect on scripture readings that align with those themes.
3) Advent Devotionals
Dive into some of our favorite Advent Devotionals as a way to slow donw and re-engage with the meaning of the season. Here a re a few we love
Come Let Us Adore Him by Paul David Tripp
Watch For The Light by Various Authors
4) Advent Calenders
We all love a good chocolate advent countdown, but add new meaning this year by adding a verse or a short time of prayer with you or your family as a way to commemorate the season.
5) Advent Playlist
Make a playlist of timeless christmas hymns and worship songs and choose a day each week to avoid what you regulalrly listen to and tap into songs that help acknowledge Jesus.
